  • Back from #PhillipIsland - what a great trip that was with the family. I have a few nice photos (from my phone) to share with you all. Will do so soon!

  • Live #crickets for the #gecko I got my daughter. Dozens of them got out of the terrarium somehow through some gap and crawling around the house. Family had a joy trying to get them all. I get home from work and the first thing I see is a little cricket on the floor escaping haha - little buggers!

  • I must be switched off on days off work, as today I’m more productive. Took girls to school, still have 4hrs before work for afternoon shift. But I’ve done dishes and a load of washing. Have time for another load, 30mins of #exercise, 30mins of #reading and throw in 30mins of #meditation.

  • I feel like I have been lazy and procrastinated a lot, but in reality I didn’t. I spent the day getting my #AudioEquipment working to be able to live stream again for #SLColonies.

  • Weather is looking good tomorrow. I might do a quick check of a local #hiking trail to check out if the fruiting bodies of #mushrooms have started sprouting so that I can get some photos!

  • Waiting on a delivery of some new studio monitor speakers for my setup. Same brand, but with balanced inputs as my new #RodecasterDuo has some balanced outputs (TRS) and I am getting sick of the hissing sound from trying to go from balance to unbalanced #audio!

  • I’ve been working on #Obsidian so that I link all of my journal together somehow and not just through tags, but also through back-links and such, to create larger looking nodes? Centres of information? It’s pretty interesting how it works.

  • My #hiking video is in the process of transcoding on #MakerTube, which is a #PeerTube instance I use for hosting my video content.

From quick watching currently during the transcoding process, I hear no audio. I hope that this is just during transcoding, as it’s a long upload and transcoding process just to have a video with no audio.

  • My #HikingVideo is in the middle of transcoding. It’s 64gig and 3.5 hours long. Hopefully the #PeerTube instance I am on, #MakerTube, can handle it. I decided to go to 1080p and not 4k, as not many people have 4k screens to make full use of those resources.

  • I’ve finally finished #editing and #encoding my #hiking video from last week. 3.5 hours long and will capture me recording #bird sounds and what not.

I’ll share it all with you as soon as it’s done uploading!

  • I got a #RodecasterDuo and finished setting it up on #POP_OS, will be fun doing my #LiveStream with it soon. Managed to get 3 USB channels/sources to route my sounds working on it without relying on windows.

  • #Hiking #LerderdergGorge - Check!

Mission accomplished. Got some nice footage of the full hike I will share some time soon on #PeerTube. Also got some good audio recording of #BirdSounds which I will share on here and on my #Ko-Fi for download!

Feel so good! And here’s a nice photo of a #Kangaroo!

  • So I’ve set my mind to #hiking #LerderderGorge today. I will try and record the whole hike on a #POV camera and make the recording available on my #PeerTube channel for those that enjoy viewing hiking videos. See if I can capture some nice #sounds too.

  • Reading @manton.org’s book on #IndieMicroBlogging fascinated me, and during my reading, I bumped into a blog that does #microcasting type of setup. I am now doing it too with my two children. A daily, 3 to 5 minute #PodCast for our own memories. And my daughter did the artwork!

A screenshot of a podcast page titled "The Family Pod" with the username "@samuel." The header features hand-drawn artwork by a child, depicting a sunset with vibrant red, orange, and yellow hues behind two dark mountains. The podcast description reads: "This podcast is a family podcast between dad and his two daughters, Ariyah and Zoey. Every day (or thereabouts), the objective is to record a quick 3 to 5-minute podcast, talking about the day, our accomplishments, and our plans for the next day. And, of course, to have a laugh!" The category is "Kids & Family," and the location is Melbourne, Australia. Stats show 0 seasons, 1 episode, and the first episode published on March 15, 2025. A "Follow" button and an RSS podcast feed link are visible. The page is powered by Castopod. read more

  • I’ve got tomorrow off from work, and it’s not a bad day. Top of 16 Celsius, no rain and fire danger rating in the green. Need to decide where I’ll go #hiking tomorrow that is not too far from home and I can get home in time to pick up the kids from school.
