@secondlife I guess this is one of the benefits of you guys focusing on the new Second Life iPad app and taking advantage of unified memory and the likes.
I’ll have to try out the app on a newer iPad some time.
-
@secondlife couldn’t have timed it better. I just moved to the Mac ecosystem and was using Firestorm. I gained 10FPS on maximum settings using the native Second Life viewer :D
-
@axxuy I feel the same way :D And then I realise I came to the Fediverse because I don’t actually care if someone likes, shares or comments… or doesn’t….
-
@axxuy I did a few things to help me with that problem that has worked to reduce my screen time and “pickups”. But it cost an arm and a leg to accomplish LOL
I have the MacBook, specifically for my creative work. Photography, Video editing, Writing.
I have the iPad, which only contains my procrastination apps, like Social Media, YouTube and some office lighting automation.
My iPhone only has my personal ID stuff, no social media. It’s a phone, you can ring me and message me (on chosen messaging apps like Signal).
Then I have the Watch - that’s only for notifications of phone calls and messages from specific people, nothing more. It’s weird when you think you get a buzz in your pocket, check phone to see nothing.
-
@manton mmm, it’s what made me switch to the Mac ecosystem recently.
-
@manton As with all social media - I tend to stay off it these days. I only post my photos really and also have to go ahead and manually post them to platforms like Facebook and Instagram for family and friends to see. But I do not monitor replies at all on different platforms. They’ll have to reply on the blog side of it, as the walled gardens don’t make it possible to syndicate anymore. They wont be making money off my doom scrolling at least :D
-
@photoschmid.com I just looked at your website and your street photography - they look so good! That’s something I wish to learn and will probably try out here in Melbourne, Australia eventually once I build the confidence!
-
@photoschmid.com I think mostly luck, and I did have to crop in from my 600mm lens, as I was a little too far for my liking.
I am still learning, so thank you for the comment. I do appreciate it :)
-
@Alrescha I felt writing on these platforms I would get a lot of negatives about Mac and pro-linux. But what I am getting appears to be a lot of pro-mac, which is good. Yes, pricey, yes, brand. But if this conversation were about Microsoft, doubt I’d be getting positive feedback about it.
-
@petitcoeur what about the rest of the ecosystem? Did you get into a Macbook, Mac Studio PC?
-
@samuellison.bsky.social Yeah, that’s some of the things I am taking into consideration.
But the way all your devices integrate cannot be matched. Everything is connected.
But, you can’t upgrade? It’s also very materialistic in that sense. Buy the latest and greatest, and do what with the old? -
@mangatake they sure are! Saved my afternoon! 😋
-
@ikklegemzuniverseplus plus - it was free. But then I ended up in the trap of once again, not owning my own content ;)
-
@ikklegemzuniverseplus to be honest with you - I thought posting direct on the main Pixelfed Instance would at least grow my new account a little quicker, or have my images seen more. But it’s not true when it comes to the Fediverse. Authenticity is king and it doesn’t matter where you post from. Follow other accounts you like, like others photos. Others end up following you back, creating links between instances and you end up shared on others instances just the same.
-
@mangatake that’s a lotta tasks :D How do you feel you go with them all? I see you have some things in there that are just for you too, that’s good :)
-
@claralistensprechen5th mmmmmmmm ☕. I can’t avoid it in my current work unfortunately (the swing shifts). But it will get better when we get more staff numbers back up. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, somewhere.
-
@claralistensprechen5th yeah, only thing is for my line of work, it’s 7 night shifts in a row from Sunday to Saturday. Last shift finished Sunday morning, then go back to either morning or afternoon on Monday and Tuesday, 6 days of rest days, and back to regular shifts for 3 weeks (random mornings and afternoons)… Back to nights and repeat currently. Body just can’t adjust.

@manton The real power of micro.blog is the blog hosting side of it. We can have “kudos” within posts and if we really want likes and reposts, the other power of micro.blog is the ability to automatically #POSSE.
People also mention #hashtags? They may not link in the micro.blog timeline, but they work on my blog, and they work in my POSSE’d content. -
@mangatake Hmmm, I guess sometimes, but not always. It’s just that I need to commit myself and do them before I end up passing time :D
-
@wgslr what I like is owning my own data, which is by having it within Obsdidian and hosted on my own website too :)
